Morrisville (cont'd)

Today dawned cloudy (doesn't that sound like a contradiction).  Weather was forecast for cloudy and intermittent rain.  In spite of that, Tom, Katie, JT and I headed off to the Copley Golf Course for nine holes.  For once, the weatherman was right and we finished the last three holes in an off and on rain.  Vi was smart and decided to go shopping with Char. Nice to get out on the course.  JT, who will turn 18 soon, is a great golfer.  I think my third shot ended up where his drive went.  Fun watching his game.  The four of us played four tees - black for JT, white for Tom, gold for me, and red for Katie.  We wanted to take full advantage of everything on the tee box.

On the way home, my Jeep decided that it needed a rest and just stopped!  Tried everything in the book, but it just was locked up and would make no movement at all.  Tom and I tried everything, but nothing worked.  Spent an hour on the phone with AAA, Goss Jeep in Burlington, and CarMax (because the Jeep was still under warranty).  I won't bore you with all the details, but for a while it was looking like we were going to tow the Jeep to Burlington; however, they said they were booked up and would not be able to get to it until mid-June.  They, like so many other businesses on our trip, are short of help and long on people wanting service.

We finally ended up calling a local mechanic who was affiliated with AAA and he came out and put the Jeep on a flatbed and took it to his shop to take a look.  We got a call later and he said it rolled right off the flatbed and seemed to be working fine.  He did double-check the brakes and they seemed to be OK.  Maybe the Jeep just wanted a vacation also!  We went over and picked it up and it's working just great.  One of the mysteries of life - at least it had a happy ending. There were visions of going home without it and coming back later in June to pick it up.  Not sure whether that was a vision or a nightmare, but thankfully everything is OK.

Tom, Katie and Carolyn came over to the campground as they hadn't seen the RV (still unnamed).  They were curious about our home away from home and are thinking of buying a smaller RV this summer and taking full advantage of Carolyn's retirement from teaching.  She has just over a week to go and is really psyched about retiring; however, it's a mixed blessing as she'll miss the students and work.  But it's time for a new adventure.

In the evening, we went out to dinner in Morrisville - there were ten of us, including Trevor (Char's oldest) and his fiancé - Virginia, whom we hadn't met before.  Great dinner and good conversation.  Afterward, we went back to Tom & Carolyn's for some more pinochle.  Katie and JT continued their winning streak and had some awesome runs.  Then it was back to Mountainview Campground.
