Morrisville, VT

When we left Ticonderoga, NY this morning, we headed north on 9N to Crown Point.  There we took the bridge over Lake Champlain to Vermont.  We have made this trip several times and the crossing has gone from the old bridge to a ferry when the old bridge was deemed unsafe to the brand new (well, almost brand new) span.

NOTE:  When I get a copy of photo Tom III took from his drone on his way back from Tim's party, I'll include it.  So stay tuned.  Hope you checked back - here's the photo.

As we travelled north toward Burlington, we were treated to some beautiful scenery of the rolling countryside with the Appalachian Mountains on the New York side across Lake Champlain.  Only a two lane road, so it was difficult to pull over and take a picture.  Travelled almost into Burlington and then took I-89 south (yeah, I know, we just travelled north to get here, but this is Vermont and you take what roads are available)  Paralleled the Winooski River with more compelling scenery.  Got off I-89 and took VT 100 through Stowe to Morrisville.  Starting to see the awakenings of the summer tourist season as we passed Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory, the Old Cider Mill, and more shops than you can count. Some would call them tourist traps, but that would be unkind. Through Stowe, which is not only popular in the winter for skiing, but in the summer for touring and shops, and then on into Morrisville.

Arrived at the Mountain View Campground and checked in.  It's located on the Lamoille River and has several tiers of campsites with the ones on the river being the most expensive.  Since we don't plan on spending much time at the campsite, we settled for one of the basic sites, but it still has all the facilities (E/W/S and internet).  We still marvel at the wooded landscape and just plain beauty of Vermont.

Went over to Tom III and Carolyn's for some relaxation and conversation, then went and did some shopping.  In the evening, we went back and were joined by Char and JT & Katie and Danny.

Dinner was great and we relaxed on the patio waiting for the sun to set, but it was clouded over, so we played pinochle.  Vi and I haven't played in a while and the various teams did well, but Katie and JT were the overall winners.

Added photo after dinner in Tom III and Carolyn's living room.  Vi, Tom Jr, JT, Char, Trevor, Katie, Carolyn, Tom III and Danny.

Back to the campsite for the evening.  Weather has cooled off some, but it was kind of warm this afternoon.
